public health
- Public access to quality of care information
- Coordination across community and academic settings; and
- Patient safety (reduce medical errors)
Examples of recent and ongoing projects
Dr. Donaldson served as project co-director for the Institute of Medicine (IOM) Committee that issued the reports, To Err is Human and Crossing the Quality Chasm, directed many other IOM reports, and has published over 60 peer-reviewed papers.
- To Err is Human provides insight about how systems of care can lead to error or support safety. Donaldson applies such insights to help clients design or update systems of care.
- Crossing the Quality Chasm outlines the "Six Aims" and “New Rules” for health care and describes how organizations and other public- and private-sector entities can support such change. Donaldson applies these principles to help clients develop frameworks, set priorities, and draft white papers on improving quality of care and patient safety.
